shot influence

One of the films I found inspiring was Unfriended, particularly during the opening scene where the audience have the same Skype view as the main 4 characters who are witnessing their friends murder.

This shot particularly served well in drawing me into the movie, creating a level of engagement and audience participation akin to voyeurism.  The skill and execution of the shot engendered a negative response which had me hooked.  I had to keep watching to find out what happened next.
The characters speak directly to the camera, almost initmately, as if they are having a conversation with only one person, me!  This mid shot was so impactful that my group tried to replicate this as part of our opening video scene in Viral Terror.

The shot above is from the first filming and shot from a high angle to give the appearance of CCTV footage.  The aim was to impress upon the audience that they were watching someone who was unaware that they were watched.  Although the original intention was to emulate the scene from Unfrended, it was decided to shoot from multiple angles using different shots to deliver a less personal  engagement.

Group Discussion

After our group discussion, have have decided that our work is currently sitting at a MID 2
moving forward, need to re film some parts of our opening.
- Emily's scene we need to re film with Match on action, and change the way we have positioned the bucket of blood and put in in a different location.
- Film in one fluid movement instead of breaking into into different parts and have fluid action.

- we need to re film Kim's scene, where charlie kills her, as the kicking and lighting doesn't fit the material we were looking for.  It looks a bit like a comedy. So we are going to change the lighting and re film it and make it look more like a Horror.

- Finally we need to re film Sam death and switch the positioning so it looks more realistic, and we can add in more angles, close ups and splice cuts. Add in credits and we should be finished.

ideally at the end we are aiming to be in a 3 HIGH
